In a collaborative initiative, Clarinet Systems, a provider of wireless connectivity solutions, MagiWeb Corporation, a systems integrator, and Crown Plaza Hotels in Taipei, Taiwan will provide hotel guests the convenience of multi-service wireless access programs via their handheld device.One of the services to be offered is ‘FreeConnect.’ Clarinet of Milptas, California will install its EthIR Beam (Access Port) in 40 designated rooms, offering guest free Internet access. The second wireless connectivity option is ‘Hi-meeting.’ Designed to meet the needs of the business traveler, this service provides high-speed Internet access in meeting and conference rooms. In addition, the companies plan to offer guests the convenience of making hotel reservations or placing a restaurant order using their PDA. The projected goal is to install wireless connectivity for handheld devices in over 6,000 rooms throughout business-oriented hotels in Taiwan, within the year, said Samuel Lin, president of MagiWeb.
