Motorola Unveils AirMobile Software for file transfer for public safety applications

For many fleet operators the cost of maintaining a mobile data system can cut into their productivity time as well as their button line. To lower the cost, Motorola’s Integrated Solutions Division has introduced AirMobile, a software package, to provide data and software updates to mobile vehicles via a WLAN.

System administrators who need a means of scheduling regular file transfers or software updates can do so without taking an entire fleet of vehicles out of service for data updates. For example, an administrator can ensure that public safety officials have access to up-to-date files such as maps, reports, patient information, and the latest fire inspections while patrolling the streets.

Features of AirMobile

Multiple vehicles can send and receive updates simultaneously.
Processing of updates can be interrupted several times if a car or truck drives in and out of the coverage area during the transfer.
If errors occur during the transfer, AirMobile will return the system to its original state and re-initiate the transfer process when the car enters the coverage area.
