NEWS TECHNOLOGY P2P Client based on Bluetooth Taking Bluetooth technology beyond hot spot or Internet connectivity functions, the Swedish company Pocit Labs has unveiled a peer-to-peer client for handhelds, BlueTalk, that enables Bluetooth-based handhelds to communicate directly with each other. Where Pocit’s technology differs from other Bluetooth products is BlueTalk’s ability to automatically create an ad hoc network between users and services in the vicinity, without an external infrastructure.Users of Bluetooth compatible PDAs or smartphones using BlueTalk could meet and create their own network. During the communication, the services and nodes are automatically aggregated and presented as users drop in and out of the network, even in high-inconsistent network environments, the company explained. For example, in the field, work teams could frequently exchange information with each other, regardless of the environment. According to Anna Engholm, vice president of product marketing at Pocit Labs, "any network application will benefit from BlueTalk for the simple reason the network architecture vastly simplifies the task of building robust service-aware wireless applications." She added, "Developers who use the BlueTalk software development kit can thus focus on application logic instead of managing network complexity."
