Dockers’ Mobile Pant For Men On-the-Go
Enterprises outfitting
their mobile professionals with gear now have to consider not only
the type of device, voice-activated versus handheld, but also the
appropriate attire, mobile pants or traditional kakis. Known for
promoting casual business dress, Dockers® of San Francisco will be
introducing a new line of causal pants for men next month, to be
known as the Mobile™ Pant. The pants were designed with the mobile
professional, who stuffs their pockets with a cellphone, PDA, and
pager along with a check book and a fat wallet, in mind.
"Mobile technology has become a way of life," commented
Maureen Griffin, consumer marketing director for Dockers. "The
Dockers Mobile Pant is keeping in step with the needs of consumers
and their hi-tech, mobile lifestyle by providing them with a stylish
and easy way of carrying the tools of the trade."
Dockers’ Mobile Pant is described as the ultimate in
convenience, no more belt clips or bulging pockets. Upholding the
Dockers' signature business wear look, stylish yet causal, the
Mobile Pant is outfitted with invisible stowaway pockets, for
carrying multiple mobile devices along with personal items, such as
keys and airplane tickets. There are seven pockets in all.
Pockets are at the heart of the design
- Customized mesh pocketing replaces the standard side pockets,
which are deep enough for larger items, such as a checkbook or
airline tickets
- Within the right front meshed pocket is a ‘hidden zip vault
pocket’ for valuables, like keys and loose change
- Stowaway seam pockets with invisible zippers, line the sides
of each pant leg, which are ideal for carrying mobile devices
- Two back pockets, add a touch of class as well as
functionality
To promote the true practicality of the Mobile Pant, Dockers has
partnered with mobile device manufacturers Compaq and Motorola.
Throughout the year, the companies will showcase the real-life
functionality of the Mobile Pant along with some of the latest
mobile devices, Compaq’s iPAQ PocketPC and Motorola’s cellphones.
Multi-faceted marketing initiates are planned, such as Web
promotion, sweepstakes and print and television ads that will use
computerized X-ray techniques.
For companies that support Dockers’ argument that causal
business attire increases employee productivity and morale, the
Dockers Mobile Pant may be written into their casual dress code as a
must have item in every employee’s wardrobe.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: We
were so excited by this news story that we created a special category
- mobile lifestyle. At one time, we thought that hardware form factor
must fit the size of pockets that mobile workers have. We were wrong!.
It appears, now, that your clothes will fit the handheld form
factor. What Palm could not or did not have to do, Compaq's iPAQ has
already achieved.
