AMAC and NewsTakes Enter into a Strategic Partnership

NewsTakes Inc. of Burlingame, Calif., has signed a Letter of Intent with AMAC Corporation, a Division of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., in a move that will give its products, such as its latest offerings Content Adapt™ and Bandwidth Adapt™, exposure to "mature and Internet data markets throughout the world."

Under the terms of the letter of intent, AMAC will have exclusive distribution rights to offer and support NewsTakes’ products to the Matsushita group and to customers in Japan and their overseas affiliates.

In addition, the California-based company announced two new products, Content Adapt and Bandwidth Adapt, which optimize the delivery of video and rich content over any network, to any Internet device, wired or wireless, using any media player software, the company said.

Both products are ideal for portals, networks, content providers, and business customers seeking to transform proprietary content into a compelling and rich user experience. AMAC will be officially launching the availability of the Content Adapt and Bandwidth Adapt at its Annual National/Panasonic — Corporate Systems Solution Division Showcase, next month in Tokyo.

Commenting on NewsTakes’ offerings, AMAC executive vice president Stan Yamamoto, said, "NewsTakes’ products will bring dramatic value to the rich media landscape of Japan. Content Adapt and Bandwidth Adapt will provide seamless, cost-effective ways for content producers, wireless portals, and private networks to migrate the risk of content obsolescence in the evolution of the Japan’s 2G to 3G infrastructures. For Matsushita enterprise customers, the same rich media unleashes tremendous gains in user productivity and efficiency."

The senior vice president of business development and marketing for NewsTakes Steve Rand said, "AMAC’s experience, expertise, and leadership position is certain to provide NewsTakes with the best possible channel to this critically important market. Japan is leading the world in mobile Internet data usage, and it is our hope that with AMAC Corporation, NewsTakes’ products will bring even more value to these advance users. "

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: While multi-media adoption on wide area wireless will take a while to mature in non-3G countries, we can see a number of ways that you can provide rich multi-media through kiosks and re-designed ATMS at hot spots in North America and Europe.
