Oracle and ACUNIA NC to Deliver Telematics-Based M-Commerce
Solutions
To capitalize on the
emerging telematics market, Oracle Corporation had partnered with
ACUNIA NV, a provider of software and hardware for next generation telematics,
to deliver integrated telematics-based m-commerce solutions for the
automatic industry.
The Belgium-based company has built its reputation on its ACUNIA
Open Telematics Framework™, an end-to-end, Java-based open
software design for the entire telematics pipeline. The
single-platform, protocol-neutral, lightweight architecture system
can be upgraded easily to add services and future technologies, the
company said.
Oracle will promote ACUNIA Open Telematics Framework technology
with its Automotive Mobile Lifestyle (AML) solution, described as a
telematics based m-commerce service. Content and transaction
providers will play a vital role in the implementation of the AML
concept, according to the company.
Components of the AML service are as follows:
- Content providers, for information, news, and route plans,
- HTML and WAP Portals, for complex transactions and the
collection of CRM information
- Transaction Providers, for the buying of music and
infotainment
- Communications, for sophisticated billing
- Call Center, a concierge service for the handling of
diagnostics and the accessing of CRM information
- Safety, for notifying call emergency services
"The alliance between ACUNIA and Oracle brings a complete,
scalable, and robust solution into being," said Frank Boutboul,
vice president Industrials & Consumers, Oracle EMEA. "Based
on the latest products from Oracle, and adding the power of ACUNIA’s
OTF Server and components, the Automotive Mobile Lifestyle offering
is the unique solution that enables a full solution from CRM to
m-commerce."
"By integrating the ACUNIA Open Telematics Framework
technology within Oracle’s current product offering for in-car
software, wired and wireless Portals with CRM, we believe we are
able to offer the automotive industry a working and future proof
solution for the deployment of their future telematics and
e-business management infrastructure," said Marc Maes,
co-founder and co-CEO of ACUNIA.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: We
are glad to see major software houses like Oracle bless Telematics
market. This is good for Acunia to pick up Oracle, a major
database software and application company, as a partner. Telematics
solutions need strong backend infrastructure which Oracle provides.
