ViaFone and webMethods to Extend and Expand Wireless Solutions
ViaFone and webMethods,
Inc. have entered into an agreement to offer organizations wireless
solutions to extend enterprise applications to mobile workers.
The two companies will develop an intelligent adapter that will
be used in conjunction with the webMethods integration platform,
enabling remote workers to access to real-time enterprise
applications such as CRM, SCM, and ERP. Using virtually any mobile
device, from Palm OS and PocketPC handhelds to WAP phones and
BlackBerry pagers, employees will be able to conduct transactions
anywhere, anytime.
ViaFone of Brisbane, Calif., will develop the intelligent adapter
to connect to the webMethods integration platform by way of the
ViaFone OneBridge, a mobility platform that allows businesses to
extend corporate data to mobile professionals. Enterprises will now
be able to expand, coordinate, and control workflow across field
sales and service processes. In addition, since both the ViaFone
OneBridge and the webMethods integrated platform are based on open
standards, enterprises can preserve their existing IT investments
while supporting future technologies.
"Enterprise with large, global field service and sales
forces are focused on building mobile applications based on critical
information and processes, often integrated by webMethods,"
said ViaFone’s CEO Bernard Desarnauts. "This combination
provides customers with the ability to connect their mobile
workforce with real-time information, thus improving business
process efficiencies, reducing costs, and increasing customer
satisfaction."
ViaFone and webMethods will coordinate sales and marketing
endeavors.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: We
are glad to see webMethods get involved with telephone service
providers to provide backend application integration where it has
significant strengths. webMethods has good software technology that
has been adopted by many application integrators. We would encourage
webMethods to go involved more actively in m-commerce, not just under
the cover but also on the cover.
