Plazmic – a startup, announces Mobile Media Engine and Plazmic Workshop Start for the Wireless content

The announcement made by Plazmic is the availability of the Plazmic Media Engine and Plazmic Workshop Start. The XML and Java ) technology-based software provides content developers with the products to create and deploy graphically rich, interactive and animated content to mobile devices over today's wireless networks.

Disney-i customers can access a graphically enhanced, interactive and animated version of "Magical Fortune" using Plazmic Media Engine, a wireless media player based on Java technology. Magical Fortune is a popular entertaining Disney character-matching horoscope service accessed by mobile customers through Disney-i on the NTT DoCoMo i-mode network. The service elevates the mobile customer experience to one that has never been seen before.

Plazmic Media Engine allows mobile customers to view and interact with rich dynamic graphics and animation on wireless devices with memory footprints as small as 10KB. The Plazmic-powered rich mobile media service enables Walt Disney Internet Group Japan to deliver a more engaging mobile experience over today's wireless networks.

"We are thrilled to help Walt Disney Internet Group Japan enable the delivery of compelling entertainment services that will enhance the enjoyment of Disney-i subscribers," said Keith Bates, Chief Executive Officer, Plazmic Inc. "The deployment of Plazmic Media Engine on Disney-i is a milestone and great complement to the capabilities of our Mobile Media Platform. Walt Disney Internet Group Japan has historically been an innovator and leader in creating entertaining services and this clearly demonstrates their leadership position in mobile content." Plazmic Media Engine enables leading wireless content providers like Walt Disney Internet Group Japan to connect with subscribers on 2G and 3G networks using rich graphics, animation and interactivity. Richly animated wireless content run on Plazmic Media Engine helps customers graphically extend brand, build compelling new wireless services and create engaging experiences for their subscribers.

"Customers demand exciting wireless experiences," added Jay Steele, President and Chief Technology Officer, Plazmic Inc. As the development tool set, Plazmic Workshop Start streamlines the graphics creation process by allowing content developers to create, edit and test content prior to deployment on wireless devices. Plazmic Workshop Start uses a subset of Scaleable Vector Graphics (SVG), the open-standard vector graphics language for content definition.  Content developers can create exciting and engaging content once and deploy it globally across multiple device types.

Dynamic and animated graphics built using Plazmic Workshop Start run on Plazmic Media Engine, a wireless media player.  Plazmic Media Engine enables mobile subscribers to view and interact with rich graphics and animation on wireless devices such as mobile phones with memory footprints as small as 10KB. Plazmic Media Engine is embedded or downloaded onto wireless devices and boasts features including support for numerous SVG features, audio and it provides digital rights protection.

Solutions built on the Plazmic Mobile Media Platform support existing 2G network standards and scale into next generation 2.5G and 3G networks. The patent-pending Plazmic Mobile Media Platform is network and device independent.

"The availability of Plazmic Workshop Start and Plazmic Media Engine marks a paradigm shift in the way content for the wireless Web is created and deployed," says Jay Steele, CTO and president, Plazmic Inc. "Plazmic's software targets the demands of wireless subscribers and the needs of the wireless content provider. Our Mobile Media Platform paves the way for companies to put their imagination into overdrive and build, deploy and run compelling content offerings and applications that respond to the exploding wireless mobile market."
