Simplifying mCommerce Revenue Exchange for Carriers & Content Providers Worldwide

Wmode Selects CIBERNET's Financial Settlement Program for ClearMode Clearinghouse, simplifying Mobile Commerce Revenue Exchange for Carriers and Content Providers Worldwide

Wmode, the creator of ClearMode*, the first wireless clearinghouse serving the worldwide mobile commerce market, announced today it will integrate CIBERNET's financial settlement component with ClearMode for easy bill-to-phone payments on wireless commerce transactions. This enhanced capability provides a complete m-commerce payment solution that can be implemented with little or no modification to a carrier's existing billing infrastructure. Wmode also licensed CIBERNET's Cellular Inter-carrier Billing Exchange Record "CIBER" to use as the m-commerce transaction record format. CIBER is a proprietary protocol used by the wireless industry for the exchange of billing information among carriers, billing vendors and clearinghouses.

"Carriers around the world trust CIBERNET to handle their financial settlement needs, so working with Wmode for mobile commerce transaction settlement is a natural extension of our services to the content providers," said George Shaginaw, CIBERNET's president and CEO. ClearMode provides a high-speed, secure and effective method for managing subscriptions to premium content, making it easy for carriers, content providers and portals to monetize wireless services. When a user with a wireless Internet-enabled
device links to a content provider's site and chooses to subscribe to or download content, ClearMode authenticates the user and validates the transaction at the point of purchase through the ClearModeT clearinghouse. ClearMode, in turn, generates two types of records for each transaction - a Transaction Record, which is sent to the carrier for inclusion on the purchaser's phone bill; and a Settlement Record that is used to determine how the money for each transaction is to be distributed for both post-paid and pre-paid purchases. Settlement Records are forwarded to CIBERNET, which handles the entire financial settlement process. CIBERNET generates statements for each carrier showing the total amounts due to the content providers and automatically transfers the correct amounts.

This enhanced m-commerce payment solution from Wmode and CIBERNET is available now for wireless carriers worldwide.
