Nokia Injects Life into Mobile Market with All-In-One
Entertainment System
Finnish mobile device
maker Nokia has unveiled its latest mobile phone that doubles as an
all-in-one entertainment system for listening to music and playing
games. The Nokia 5510 will hit store shelves in time for the
Christmas season, perhaps injecting life into the dying handset
market.
Specifically designed to appeal to the mobile savvy youth market,
the Nokia 5510 with a full line of features including a keyboard for
extensive text messaging; a games platform with two-hand control,
and an integrated digital music player for AAC (Advanced Audio
Coding) and MP3 music files. Users can record their favorite music
with the AAC and store 2 hours of music in the phone’s 64 MB
memory.
"Phones are no longer only voice and SMS driven, but are
increasingly functioning as platforms for other services, such as
entertainment," said Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice president of
Nokia Mobile Phones. "With this phone, we’re introducing a
new category of devices functioning as integrated entertainment
platforms, which are complemented by related relevant services from
Club Nokia."
Club Nokia is an on-line community and loyalty program for Nokia
customers in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.
