Union Pacific Railroad Turns to Mobile Tech to Manage Trains
Nexterna, a wireless
software provider, has been selected to supply its Web-enabled
software, wireless communications equipment, and data center
services to 2,870 Union Pacific trains.
For railroad managers, this will mean real-time access to
location tracking, work order status, and two-way data
communications.
"Our mobile resource management products will enabled Union
Pacific Railroad to decrease idle time and operating costs, tracking
shipments, and provide better service to their freight
customers," said Richard Gozia, president and CEO of Nexterna.
