Motorola Unveils 2002 Device
Portfolio
At the Motorola Design
Center in Milan, the American handset maker introduced its 2002 PCS
portfolio, offering the mobile community the first glimpse of its
new design direction — the fusion of fashion with function. The
2002 PCS portfolio includes five new handsets, along with three
existing models with enhanced features.
"Anyone who tracks our industry will recognize the new
direction represented by our 2002 portfolio. Design, style,
elegance, entertainment and overall experience — these are all the
hallmarks of a renewed and refocused Motorola PCS," said Mike
Zafirovski, president of Motorola’s PCS sector.
From among the five new handsets, there are two that stand out
— the Motorola A388 and the Motorola A820. The former will attract
the attention of the mobile professional where the latter will
appeal to the tech-savvy consumer.
The Motorola A388
The Motorola A388 is an all-in-one communication device, with a
sleek clamshell design, that features J2ME technology making it
ideal for customized applications, from business solutions to
entertainment options. The Motorola A388 offers the mobile
professional the tools to stay connected, including the ability to
use the phone worldwide in most major cities, e-mail, handwriting
recognition, IM, fax, Internet access, and PIM/PDA functionality.
The Motorola A820
The Motorola A820 marks the company’s first entry into the
3G-product category. With the capacity for downloading movie clips
and customizing messages with either video or audio files, the A820
is not like your traditional mobile, according to Motorola.
Packed full of sophisticated communications and
entertainment features, the A820 promises to offer high-speed voice
and data functionality, MMS, a video camera, Bluetooth wireless
technology, downloadable ring tones, games, and Multi-call, for
talking on the phone while using the other applications, for
instance, surfing the Web.
In addition, existing models such as the Motorola V60i, Motorola
V66i and Motorola T280i now offer a range of business and
entertainment features, including advanced messaging, ring tone
composition, downloadable applications, screensavers, and
animations.
