Syscan-Psion To Release Powerful Two-Way Pager Product

Sycan International Inc. will provide Psion Inc. with its two-way pager software interface module -- SysPager – that allows Psion’s netBook and Series 7 products to send and receive wireless messages directly.

Syscan’s software is designed to work on Motient network offering significant coverage in North America.  Based on Symbian’s EPOC operating system, SysPager has the capacity to manage information in real-time for netBook and Series 7. In addition it also has expansion capacity for additional features.

Syscan’s software will be an additional enhancement to the netBook and Series 7 already fusion of tools.  Their touch-screen and large keyboard make them perfect tools for word processing, spreadsheets and graphics.  The built-in Microsoft, Lotus and Corel compatible word processor contains all the core features.  In addition, these Psion products also have built-in email application that synchronizes with email packages along with fax and SMS messaging functions.

Mobile Advisory and Comments:
Two-way pager market is expanding. RIM and Motorola were two major players so far. Now there are more vendors.  However, it is important to appreciate ergonomic issues, form factor, ease of input of data before you select a 2-way pager for serious enterprise applications.
